1968 CHEVROLET CAMARO SS 350 - Offered on behalf of the Estate of the late Daryl Duff
Daryl Duff was affectingly known as the ‘fastest butcher in Brighton’. He was a former president of the Victorian Historic Racing Register, a regular competitor and well-regarded by his peers.
This Camaro was built into a race car by Daryl from an original condition SS350 this Camaro retains all of its original body complete with exterior trim.
In transformation to a log book Group NC car, a new HP 350 5.7 litre motor and Muncie gearbox were installed.
Other components have been replaced as required.
It is fitted with vented disc brakes, the original rear axle has an adjustable panhard rod and track rods. Aluminium radiator, battery isolation, modified fuel tank, alloy wheels, half roll cage and race seat complete the modifications to make this Camaro competitive in its class.
This Camaro was 1st in class and fastest outright at the 2016 & 2017 Myrniong Historic Car Sprints, as well as a trio of wins at Mt Tarrengower in 2007, 2008, 2010. It has been in storage since that time, but has been maintained in good running condition and would require little to recommission it for competition. A great entry car for competitive Group NC Historic Motor Racing, Club Speed Events. It is sold with a current CAMS Historic Log Book.
Alternatively this Camaro could be used (with little effort) as a very fast Road Car or could be easily restored using the original engine and gearbox which accompany the car (images attached). Also accompanying the sale the original steering wheel and gear sets (images attached).
Whichever road taken by this Camaro, it is spectacular example an SS 350 Camaro with a definitive Muscle Car presence ready for display or competition.
Presented here is a wonderful opportunity to purchase a car that has no expense spared on making it a 'race winner' and known car as much for its presentation to its much loved former owner.
