FIAT 501 C Torpedo tourer 1925

The successful 501 series cars were FIAT’s first effort after WW1 and were manufactured between 1919 and 1926.

Powered by the Cavelli designed 1460cc engine ,they were renowned for their reliability.

In 1923 production was moved to the famed FIAT plant at Lingotto made famous in the rooftop filming of ”The Italian Job” and many others.
Nearly 70,000 of the model were made, and some made their way to Australia in rolling chassis form, as this one did.

Bodied here on arrival, in the style of the FIAT factory models by Horwood Bagshaw motor bodies of Adelaide ,South Australia.

Now fully rebuilt throughout ,including an improved 503 cylinder head and new wiring loom, this delightful vintage car has only covered 2,000 klms since restoration.

Perhaps even more amazing is the fact that this FIAT has only had 3 owners since new , and their subsequent care and attention to detail is reflected in the presentation of this attractive car today.

Period fitments include FIAT instrumentation , plus a Smith’s clock.

The original handbook , and a copy, is included with the car plus a manual and spares book , hood frame ,half tonneau and tools.
This really is a useable light vintage car , and carries with it the beautiful brass radiator for which made these cars so recognizable.
