This exceptional Aston Martin was first delivered new to Glasgow, Scotland in September 1960 and has been in Australia since the mid 1960’s. Still fitted with its original engine (370/413) and David Brown 4-speed gearbox the car underwent a complete nut and bolt restoration to the highest standard between 2004 and 2008.
This included totally dismantling the car, sandblasting the chassis with any imperfections being repaired. The whole car was repainted inside and out and treated to prevent any corrosion appearing. The engine was completely rebuilt with new pistons, liners, rings, bearings, chains, valves, seats to suit unleaded fuel, guides and much more. It was also brought up to DB5 specifications including triple SU carburetors and 4.0L displacement.
The David Brown gearbox was completely overhauled and converted from close-ratio to wide-ratio to improve drivability. Also new synchromesh rings from RS Williams were installed (they had been developed by RS Williams to improve gear selection). The car was re-trimmed in “Fawn” Connolly leather and Beige Wilton carpet. As well as the above items there have been many further detailed improvements carried out on this DB4.
Since its completion in August 2008 this car has gone on to win the following Concours awards:
2008 AMOC National Meeting: 1st in class, 1st outright and Ladies Choice.
2009 AMOC NSW Annual Display 1st in class, 2nd Outright
2010 AMOC NSW Annual Display 1st in class, 1st Outright
Finished to the highest standard this beautiful series II DB4 will not disappoint.
