Ford Falcon XB GT sedan 1973 Garage Find

Built in December 1973 with a full letter of confirmation from the Ford Motor Company of Australia.

Originally registered IHJ 362 this manual XB GT has sat unused in a dry garage in Oakleigh for over 26 years , the original Victorian registration being cancelled on 30th December 1994.

There have been 3 owners since 1985. By chance we happen to know the owner who purchased the car in 1985 from Joel Ray Motors in Heidelberg. Unfortunately after only 2 days the engine through a con rod in Bell Street, and the engine was replaced with another 351 cc unit by Mick Webb engineering. The owner fitted the sheepskin seat covers and enjoyed the car for over 4 years using the car for touring, his own wedding as well as gaining a CAMS Licence.

In 1989 the car was sold for $9,000 to the second last owner who kept it until late 1994.

The last owner removed the engine and gearbox with the intention of rebuilding the engine to produce more power.

This never happened , so the engine is stripped down ,partially rebuilt and with many new parts included in the sale. The gearbox and clutch assembly remain intact. All the parts are here and available for inspection.

The interior is totally original and in very good condition for the age of the car. The bodywork is very straight and complete, and appears not to have had any major panel or structural damage. The paintwork is original , but suffering in part from the car being in long term storage.

All the original body tags are in place and original, and match the FMC letter ,as does the Chassis number inscribed on the car.

The boot is original and the jack and bag are there.

With almost every Australian muscle car now selling for in excess of five figures, and some many hundreds of thousands, this XBGT offers a great opportunity to a keen enthusiast or savvy collector.
