Jaguar E Type Competition Roadster 1970.

The Jaguar E-Type, often considered one of the most iconic sports cars ever constructed. Enzo Ferrari labelled it “the most beautiful car ever made”, and many recent polls show that many people agree with Enzo’s sentiment.

Produced by Jaguar from 1961 to 1975 the Jaguar E-Type combines the power, beauty and performance from the car it was based, the Le Mans winning D-Type Jaguar. When first released the E-Type was revolutionary, featuring a disc brakes, monocoque construction, rack and pinion steering, independent front and rear suspension and a top speed of 150mph.

Jaguar built a dozen lightweight E-Types between 1963 and 1964. These cars were constructed with an all-aluminium body which removed around 114kg compared to a standard E- Type. Powered by the same 3.8 litre engine that drove the D Type Jaguar to victory at Le Mans in 1957 and mated to a close ration 4 speed or ZF 5 speed gear box, the lightweight E-Types were a quick and versatile car. Though they did not enjoy the same overall successes internationally as its earlier D Type counterpart, the lightweight car did enjoy success at various National level competitions with Bob Jane taking out the Australian GT Championship in 1963.

This genuine right hand drive Series 2 E-Type roadster has been built and engineered into a representation of the fast and desirable "Lightweight" specification E-Types.

Now featuring a 330hp 4.8L engine with triple 45 DCOE Webers, mated to a 5 speed gearbox this Jaguar has a CAMS (Confederation of Australian Motor Sport) Group 2B log book.

With only the one owner for the past 30 years this car comes with a receipt file and period Jaguar routine service vouchers. Original seats etc. included.

This Jaguar has been constructed to represent the desirable and fast lightweight competition variants of the period. These cars featured a more aerodynamic design with hard top and aluminium coachwork.

This car replicates the famous look with fibreglass nose, hardtop and boot-lid. The doors and tub are all steel.

Fitted with a set of Aluminium Dunlop racing wheels with sticky Toyo Proxes R888 R Spec tyres.

With a CAMS approved safety cage, racing seat and harness, plus all non-essential items removed (carpet, trim etc.), sitting in this E-Type feels like you’re ready for a race start.

Whilst retaining some switchgear, Speedo and Tacho from the original E-Type many of the other gauges and switches have been changed for better and more accurate communication on the vehicles diagnostics.

This E-Type is fitted with a 4.8 litre engine delivering just a touch under 330hp. Fitted with triple 45 DCOE Webers being fed from a competition safety fuel cell this Jaguars power plant is mated to a T-5 five speed gearbox.

The original seats and window frames are included in the sale.
