Lancia B20 GT Coupe 1956.
This 5th Series B20GT was delivered new by W.H.Lowe and Co of Whitehorse Rd, Balwyn ,the Australian Ferrari Concessionaires and Victorian Lancia Distributors.
This is the 40th car made from 119 units in the 5th series.
Believed to be 3 owners from new and held with the last owner for over 56 years, together with a collection of other older Lancia motor cars. On acquisition , it was registered JCR-056 in Victoria. A colour photo of the car is included in the file dated July 1968, much as it appears today, however in the notes, a recording of purchase was made into the last owners name back on 1 September 1966 . In addition a small and detailed old pocket diary dating from 1972 until 2009 has many handwritten notes, including everything from an engine rebuild at 64,650 klm to oil filters and spark plug replacement.
Still in the original red colour scheme with an excellent darker red leather interior. The dashboard panel being finished in black and red. The bodywork and engine bay of this Lancia Aurelia is in largely unmolested and original condition , however the upholstery has been more recently re upholstered to a high standard in the original style. The superb body gaps Lancia were famed for are still there and this car features the steel bonnet with a centre chrome strip.
Specification also includes the factory 4 speed gearbox with the floor mounted shifter. Some of the earlier cars were fitted with Nardi aftermarket floor conversions.
Now with a recorded mileage of 175,132 klms and running very sweetly, with all the B20 refinements which were so valued by many. You could immediately understand why motoring legends like Fangio, Behra and Hawthorn chose these cars as their daily choice.
Wins in such prestigious Motor Sport events followed with outright victory in the Liège and Acropolis Rallies. Success was often gained by the advanced superb balance and handling of these cars rather than higher engine output.
For the more adventurous this B20 would also be eligible for the Mille Miglia , subject to approval, and be welcomed at almost any other classic event.
Included with car are the handbooks in both English and Italian and various other Lancia material.
Chassis No B20 3737.
