Mercedes Benz 190E 2.5-16 Valve saloon 1990

The WDB201 series was introduced in 1975 with styling by Bruno Sacco ,head stylist for Mercedes Benz. By 1983 and to be competitive with Audi in the DTM European race series, the Mercedes Benz factory fielded a team of 201 style cars, but with higher performance 2.3 litre 16 Valve engines which were worked on by Cosworth Developments. These cars also featured Getrag ‘dog leg’ 5 speed manual gearboxes, alloy wheels, faster steering ratios, advanced braking, and a lower suspension height with a limited slip differential. Additional instrumentation, body spoilers and sports seats in leather completed the equipment for the road cars.

In 1988 MBZ improved the package further with the introduction of the 2.5- 16 Valve engine with increases in power and torque characteristics. Improved double row timing chains were also incorporated into the engine design.

These cars were initially only available in 2 colours, Blue-Black or Smoke Silver, with Almandine Red and Astral Silver (this car) coming in with the release of the 2.5.

In 1988 the 2.5 – 16 Valve was introduced. This 1990 model is a factory RHD built car and originally delivered to UK , before being exported to NZ and registered there in 1995 with a recoded mileage of 70,444 miles. Whilst in New Zealand the car was kept as part of a large classic car collection before being imported into Australia in 2019. This car has now covered a little over 80,000 miles. Recent work has included new discs and pads and a new stainless steel exhaust system together with various other service work and new front tyres.

Finished in Astral Silver with a black leather interior, this car is in beautiful condition and comes with the drivers handbook and a history file.
