Mercedes Benz 280SE 3.5 Coupe 1971

This W111 coupe was delivered new by Yorkstar Motors on 10/8/ 1971 to the CEO of Clyde Industries, famous for building so much of the country’s rail
engines at the time.
In 1974 it was part exchanged to the second owner, long known and respected friend of ours, at approximately 8,000 miles and remained under his care and ownership for over 50 years. Although more recently domiciled in Queensland the car has been registered in Victoria SE 035 since the first and only change of ownership.
A full set of books wallets and service stamps is included with the car including statement as to its authenticity and history.
This 3.5 has now covered only 93,733 miles from new, and is in beautiful and original condition with a patina that can only be acquired with age and not replicated.
The interior is all original down to the blue woollen over carpets and does show commensurate wear, but the woodwork is excellent and does support a nurtured life. The body and brightwork is very good and the engine compartment clean and untampered with.
Delivered with a factory steel sunroof and Behr air conditioning, and not uncommon for Australian cars manual windows.
Originally Mercedes Benz only manufactured 3270 coupe models in total, however of this, only 245 or 7.5% were made in RHD configuration. Of this 88 were delivered new to Australia.
