Completed on 18/12/1953 this MGTF was one of 18 exported to Australia onboard the MV Enron and sold new to a Mr R. Brookes of Belqowlah, NSW. By the 1970”s ownership had been transferred to a Mr G Hawken also of NSW.
The last owner acquired this matching numbered TF in 2011, and completely stripped the car and rebuilt it to a high standard, whilst changing the colour from the original Ivory to the attractive 1988 MG F Type metallic green. This rebuild included etch priming the chassis and renewing the wood frame. At that time the mileage was an indicated 70,000 miles. On completion, the car also had success at MGCC Concourse events in Tasmania.
This TF has now covered just over 83,000 miles and in the intervening period the following work has been carried out : Full rebuild of the engine by respected Gold Star Automotive in Launceston in 2023. New exhaust. New gearbox bearings, New brake linings and wheel bearings, New wiring loom and trim kit. At the same time the car was converted to Negative earth. Other items included are rebuilt SU carbs, electronic ignition new petrol pump, hi torque starter motor and the fitment of alloy 2 piece engine side panels for easy access, however the originals and the vent panels are with the car.
A handy MG suitcase is there which can be used on the pack rack when desired, and a selection of spare parts and car cover is with the car also.
A complete set of manuals and books are with the car plus a short history and engine rebuild receipts.
With an excellent hood, full side curtains and a tonneau, this lovely TF is ready to be enjoyed and impart the T Type MG series charm.
